Blevins Cross Country 2026 (6th, 7th & 8th Grade)

*Any Blevins student (grades 6-8) can join and run all the races! No cuts!
We don’t care if you’re fast or slow. Just come work hard and get in shape.
*Parent info meeting - Blevins Auditeria - Tues Aug 25th, 5-5:45pm
*Shoe night at Altitude Running - Thurs 8/20 from 4:30-6:30pm. Details later.
*Reg, fee, doc physical info: https://www.psdathletics.org/msreg
Doc physical needs to be more recent than 10/8/25. START REG IN JULY!
*Summer training - highly recommended - build up slowly, try to jog 2-4 times per week for 10-30 minutes, or if you’re a veteran, incorporate a weekly long run of 40-60 minutes. In August, make sure to do a few jogs in the heat - it takes your body 2 weeks of exercise in the heat to fully adapt.
*Stay tuned - Preston’s coaches may again be coordinating summer runs - check your email
*Pre-season: Aug 18th-21st at Blevins, 2:45pm-4pm
*Regular season: Mon Aug 24th, at Blevins, 2:45pm-4:30pm. Please have rides arranged by 4:45pm - coaches cannot provide supervision past 4:45pm. Also need to have a family plan for how to get your athlete home if practice gets cancelled for lightning, hail, smoke, etc.
*RECRUIT! We are losing some boys to the new soccer team and want to keep our numbers high enough to hire back a 3rd coach. (Yes, athletes can split time between soccer & XC.)
*Lobo Invite Fundraiser Race for Rocky - probably Sat Aug 22nd@ Spring Canyon
https://co.milesplit.com/meets/728379-rocky-mountain-lobo-invitational-2026/info
*Gear! We run in heat, rain, and snow, but head inside for lightning, hail, or fire smoke. Need a variety of athletic clothes, good running shoes, and a handstrap water bottle (~10-12 oz).
*19th Annual “A” Run. Help continue a 19-yr Blevins XC tradition! Mon 10/12The Lok family has graciously volunteered to host the party after we run up to the whitewash “A.” We need parent volunteers to drive backpacks, bring snacks, help w/ food prep, print photos, and join us for the “A” run. Backup days 10/19, 10/20.
*Other things: We will also need a horde of volunteers for our home race - either at Blevins or Greenbriar Park, TBD. We’ll also continue the newer tradition of Coach/Athlete/Parent pizza mile.

Practice Schedule:
8/24 to 8/28 (Mon-Fri) 2:40-3:45pm; Meet at the tennis courts. Bring racket, water, athletic clothing, non-marking athletic shoes (avoid black soles).
8/31 to 10/8 (Monday-Thurs excluding match days) 2:40-3:45pm; Meet at the tennis courts. Bring racket, water, athletic clothing, non-marking athletic shoes (avoid black soles).
Parent Meeting:
There will be a parent tennis meeting Thursday August 27st after school from 3:45pm to 4:15pm at the Blevins Middle School Tennis Courts. If the weather is bad, the meeting will be moved inside to room 236. During the meeting coach Kiser and coach Hall will discuss the tennis bylaws for this season. We can go over how matches will be scored and how doubles teams will be formed. We will answer any questions about the match schedule for boys and girls. We will discuss tennis etiquette for both parents and students. We want to remind parents that there is only bus transportation to the tennis matches. Parents are expected to pick up students from matches. This meeting is also and opportunity for parents to connect with other parents wanting to carpool. If you can't attend the meeting, you can email coach Kiser (boys) or coach Hall (girls) any questions you have.
