Welcome to Blevins Middle School Math page! We have an outstanding Math program and would like to share some information about our Math pathways and philosophy. We offer three pathways: grade level, once accelerated, and twice accelerated, as shown below.

*High School Credit.
At Rocky, any student can accelerate in math because Rocky does year-long courses in one semester.
For example, a student completing Blevins' grade level pathway (Math6-Math7-Math8) could accelerate in 9th grade by doing Algebra 1 from August to December, and Geometry from January to May.

- MAPs and CMAS scores
- Grades & teacher feedback from previous years
- Input from parents and students
- HW completion and work ethic in class
Literacy across content areas: In 2024 as a school, we have a building focus on literacy across content areas. In math, we use the C.U.B.E.S. acronym to help students dissect story problems. If you are helping your student with math work at home, please encourage them to use this strategy!
C - circle key numbers and units in the problem
U - underline the question
B - box math "action" words
E - eliminate information we don't need
S - show work to answer the problem and check your answer
Curriculum
In 2016 PSD adopted the Big Ideas Math series for Math 6 through Algebra 2 in high school. Students have access to physical textbook as well as textbook online with lots of online resources and support materials.

Remember to always wear your glasses to math class - they help with Division.
