Hi there! My name is Lauren Grande and I am a Language Arts teacher fortunate enough to be a part of the brave Bruin Family. My teaching philosophy is people centered thus, in and outside of my classroom, I strive to provide students and colleagues with opportunities to explore themselves and the world in which we navigate in ways that adhere to their learning styles and interests. I believe that by having access to education and community based practices, students may become the best versions of themselves for the path they choose to pursue beyond secondary education. I was born in Longmont, Colorado thus getting outside and getting moving is very important to me. My favorite place to be is hiking or snowshoeing; enjoying the views that Colorado has to offer. My other hobbies include golfing or trail running whenever I get the chance. I obtained a BA in English, Creative Writing from Colorado State University as well as a MA in English Education from Colorado State University. Go Rams!
In my classroom, students can expect to be enriched in a growth mindset environment. I strive to model this and will provide students with support and encouragement as long as they come ready to learn, grow, explore, and move up-up, and beyond as a community! Students can also expect to be reading and writing in various genres. I plan to include various Young Adult Literature texts that are sure to grow readers in and outside the classroom. I am committed to working diligently to center my pedagogy around identity and historically responsive and sustainable teaching. Welcome to our space! I am glad we are here.
