Math Counts
If you like to creatively solve unusual math problems and like to be around other people who enjoy doing the same, come join the Math Counts team! We enjoy math puzzles and riddles, and exploring different ways to solve the same problem.
Our team participates in an area-wide competition at the UNC campus each year and gets t-shirts and a team picture in the yearbook. The season lasts until the area competition, which is in mid-February. If this sounds interesting, come check out one of our meetings, or talk to Mr. Holder about whether it would be a good fit for you!

Odyssey of the Mind
Contact: Izzy Crume
What’s Odyssey of the Mind? It’s an amazing extra-curricular enrichment that fits beautifully with the PBL program at Blevins. Odyssey is a creative problem-solving program for kids in Kindergarten through College where teams of up to seven members learn to think outside the box, work together to develop creative solutions to broadly defined problems, and eventually present their solution in an eight-minute performance. Odyssey of the Mind teaches 21st-century skills that students need to be successful today and in the future. Children learn to think and work creatively with each other while applying innovative approaches. Children develop skills to communicate clearly and effectively plus respectively collaborate with others.
Science Olympiad
Science Olympiad is a competitive science club where students explore STEM through teamwork, challenges, and problem-solving.
Our school has a proud tradition with this nationally recognized program, having earned many local, state, and even national awards over the years.
Students already signed up for Bruin Club may attend Science Olympiad during that time. Students not in Bruin Club may either join Bruin Club (permission slip required) or arrange for pickup at 3:30.

Student-Initiated Clubs
If we do not offer a school-sponsored activity or organization that meets the particular interests or passions of a group of students, we encourage them to create a student-initiated club. Student-initiated clubs must find an adult supervisor from our staff and a time to meet outside of the school day.
If you would like to start a new student-initiated club at Blevins, please fill out an application and schedule a meeting with Mrs. Sanger, Assistant Principal.
