Colorado Academic Standards - Science
Why Science?
Science coursework at Blevins is designed to represent science as both a body of knowledge and as a method for gathering and accepting knowledge. Blevins science curricula is based upon the Colorado Science Academic Standards. Participation in science classes offers students the ability to access a wealth of knowledge that contributes to an understanding of how the natural world works. Knowledge of lawful patterns discovered through science allows students to understand new concepts, make informed decisions as citizens, and pursue new interests.
Many students are inspired by science. Science instills a sense of wonder and enables students to develop skills necessary to answer questions based upon previously gained knowledge or through designing their own scientific inquiry. Students who excel in science increase their capacity to think critically.
