2026-2027 Registration

We are so excited to welcome you and your student to Blevins Middle School! We can’t wait for our incoming sixth graders to join our Bruin community next school year.

During the week of February 9, 2026, Blevins counselors are visiting our feeder elementary schools to introduce students to middle school, share what life at Blevins is like, and explain our elective options and registration process. Students will learn about classes, activities, and opportunities available to them as they begin this exciting transition.

Sixth Grade Electives & Scheduling

At Blevins, sixth graders participate in a wheel of electives. This means students rotate through several exploratory classes during the year such as art, technology, PE, and other enrichment courses.

The elective wheel allows sixth graders to:

  • Explore a wide variety of subjects before choosing electives more independently in later grades.
  • Discover new interests and strengths they may not have had the chance to experience in elementary school.
  • Build skills and confidence as they transition into middle school.

Because students participate in the elective wheel, they only need to choose one music elective option (band, choir, orchestra, or music appreciation). We will schedule the rest of their electives to ensure every student has access to the full range of exploratory classes.

How This Impacts Future Elective Choices

In seventh and eighth grade, students will have more flexibility and will choose individual electives based on their interests. The experiences gained during the sixth grade elective wheel often help students make more informed and confident choices about which electives they want to pursue in later years

Incoming Sixth Grade Events

We are thrilled to present you with an amazing opportunity for your incoming sixth grade student over the summer! The Becoming a Bruin summer program is an exciting collaboration between the 21st Century Out of School Time Program (Bruin Club) and Blevins Middle School! Incoming sixth graders will be able to take part in project-based learning and enrichments while becoming comfortable and confident on Blevins’ campus.

Becoming a Bruin will be held at Blevins Middle School and will run two sessions:
Session 1, July 27-July 30
Session 2, August 3-August 6

Students are welcome to register for one of the two sessions. The programs will run from 7:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m., Monday-Thursday. Students can join us for a “soft start” beginning at 7:00 a.m., but must arrive by 7:30 a.m. Breakfast and lunch will be available to all students who attend, along with transportation if needed.

Registration is now open and will close on April 10! Please register for Becoming a Bruin here!

We understand that the summer music program will occur at the same time as our program. The Becoming a Bruin team is working with the music staff to ensure that students can attend both programs. Feel free to enroll your student in the music program as well!
