Welcome to the Blevins Library!
The Blevins Middle School Library strives to provide a safe, warm, and welcoming atmosphere that encourages learning and fosters a life-long love of reading.
Scholastic Book Fair at Blevins
The Scholastic Book Fair is running in the library from April 21 to May 2 from 7:30 to 10:30 AM. It’s a great chance for students to discover new favorites, build their home libraries, and get excited about reading!
ELA teachers can sign up to bring their classes for a special shopping trip during school hours. Families can also stop by the Book Fair after school during the Bloom’n Bonanza on May 1, a perfect time to shop together!
Want to make shopping even easier? Set up a Scholastic eWallet! This secure, cash-free option allows your child to shop without cash, and you can easily share the eWallet link with friends and family to help grow your child’s reading collection. Unspent eWallet funds from a previous Fair? Simply create a new eWallet in your Scholastic account and transfer the balance as an eGift Card!
You can also make a difference by contributing to Share the Fair, the giving program that empowers school communities to support students who need help buying books.
We can’t wait to see you at the Book Fair. Check out our Blevins Book Fair Home Page at https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/blevinsmiddleschool.
If you have any questions about the Scholastic Book Fair, email Grace Laird at glaird@psdschools.org.
Library Hours
Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 2:25 pm
Circulation
Students may check out 1 or 2 books for 3 weeks. Most books (the exceptions being graphic novels and new books) may be renewed one time for another 3 weeks.
If a book is damaged, a damage fine will be assessed dependent on the amount of damage, from $1.00 through the entire replacement cost. Lost books will need to be paid for. Check your student's SchoolPay account to check for charges incurred.
Collection
Choosing books for middle school can be challenging. What might be interesting and appropriate for an 8th grader may not be interesting and/or appropriate for a 6th grader. There was a lot of time and effort into choosing books for the Blevins Library. Parents are encouraged to talk to their student(s) about their library books. (See the menu item "Reading Recommendations" for help at home.) Some books may have a "Content Warning" label on the cover for heavy violence, sexual situations and/or strong language.
Books are chosen for the Blevins Library to support curriculum, engender high interest, and encourage reading for information and enjoyment.
