Blevins Golf Spring 2019

Qualifying- Blevins is limited to 12 boys team members and 12 girls team members. 6th, 7th or 8th graders are eligible to play. We wish we could take everyone, but the district is very strict due to the difficulty of getting tee-times for PSD players. To be eligible to qualify you must have a silver card turned in to Coach Clarke and the participation fee paid. (See below for details.) Qualifying rounds will determine each team according to the top scores. If player spots remain on either boys or girls team, they may not be interchangeable. If you do not qualify for the team you will be reimbursed your participation fee.

Boys and Girls qualifying 3/12/19 City Park at 1:30 pm

Matches- Boys will compete in 8 matches throughout the season and Girls will also compete in 8 matches. Blevins will be bringing 6 players to each match. Seeding is yet to be determined but once team rosters and individual player schedules are reviewed Coach Tanner and Coach Clarke will send out a match player schedule.  Players will be released from class early on the days they have matches, but parents are responsible for getting them to and from the matches. Please share contacts and emails so that carpooling can be arranged.

Practice rounds- Each team has one non-qualifying round of golf. Blevins is as follows:

Girls 4/9 at 2:32 City Park        Boys 4/18 at 2:32 City Park

Practice- We will meet March 26th at City Park for chipping putting and driving. From that point on practice will be before matches for the players competing in that day’s competition. We will also be scheduling a clinic sometime during the season for all the players involved.

*Parents/guardians are responsible for arranging rides to and from matches.

District Tournament 5/8/2018- Southridge golf course. All day tournament players will be excused from classes to participate.

Top 5 players will represent Blevins at district tournament.

Every athletic participant must have a physical, payment and registration completed at Blevins in order to practice or compete. The physical forms are valid for a year from the examination date. It is advisable to arrange physicals well in advance of the sport in which your student is interested. Please note: Athletic Physical forms are available on the PSD and Blevins websites, or in the Blevins Front Office. Physical forms are not available in the physician’s offices. Golf season runs March 11th through May 8th.  More information will be communicated as it becomes available.   Fee is $105.  Practice takes place at City Park 9. Local golf courses are the site of matches. New PSD Athletic Registration Process:

In effort to make the Athletic registration process more convenient for parents and efficient for staff, PSD has launched a new online registration option. The SportsEngine application will allow you to register your child online for any current season sport.  If you choose this method you will still need to fulfill requirements 1, 3, 4 and 5.

Required: – 1) Students who are interested in either sport need to sign-up on the clipboards located in the lunchroom.  This information helps Mrs. Koepp with intent and prep for processing.     

Required: –  2) You must complete an online registration through SportsEngine, or a 2018-19 Middle School  Athletic Participation Permission and Release form and a 2018-19 Student  Athlete Medical  Information form which must be completed, signed and submitted to Mrs. Koepp in Blevins’ Front  Office. If you have already submitted these forms for the 2018-19 school year there is no need to resubmit them.

Required: – 3) You must have a current Middle School Physician Certification of Student Fitness for Athletic Participation on file in the Front Office. This form must be submitted to the Blevins Front Office regardless of which method you chose to register. This certificate is good for 365 days from the date of exam.

Required: - 4) A $105 Athletic fee (per sport) must be paid or waved prior to tryouts or participation. The athletic fee for in-district students is $105 and the fee for home-based, charter, and private school students is $157 per sport. Payments can be made online through SchoolPay or you may submit cash, check or pay with a credit card in the Blevins Front Office. All credit card transactions are charged a transaction fee and that fee is not refundable). If a student qualifies for a waiver, the 2018-19 Permission to Share form must be completed and submitted. These forms can be submitted through your ParentVue account. If your child does not make the final roster for a “cut” sport you will be refunded the $105. Refunds will be issued after rosters are finalized.  

Required: - 5) In order to tryout and participate, All Athletes must submit a Silver Card to the coach. There are No Exceptions. Silver Cards will only be issued to students who meet requirements 2, 3 and 4. Cards are issued by Mrs. Koepp in the Front Office and will be distributed to the athletes on the first day of practice or tryouts.

Students are encouraged to not wait until to register or obtain sports physicals. Last minute submissions could delay the process and may result in your student not be issued a Silver Card until the following day.
